Each year, during Peace Officer Memorial Week during the Month of May, the Palm Springs Police Officers' Association honors our two Palm Springs Police Officers, Gayle Gene Eldridge and Lyle Wayne Larrabee, killed in the line of duty in 1961 and 1962, respectively.  We also honor all the other officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice to secure our freedom.

The Palm Springs Police Officers Memorial Foundation is an IRS 501(c)(3) dedicated to honor our two fallen police officers by providing annual scholarship awards to deserving Palm Springs High School Seniors seeking a career in criminal justice and also to children of Palm Springs Police Officers.  We also provide needed money to families of fallen officers throughout California.

To qualify for a scholarship, students must demonstrate character and leadership skills, demonstrate involvement in school and community activities and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.

On May 21, 2010, the scholarships were awarded to two deserving PSHS students who maintained the necessary GPA throughout their four years at PSHS.  PSPOA President Kyle Stjerne presented the recipients with a scholarship for $2,000 each.  The recipients were Jacob Derman, who will be moving on to California State University at Fullerton to study Criminal Justice and Jacquelynn King who will be attending UC Berkeley to study History and then pursue a Law Degree.  Congratulations to both recipients.
